"Bollinger Bands" are a technical analysis tool developed by John Bollinger in the 1980s for trading stocks. The bands comprise a volatility indicator that measures the relative high or low of a security's price in relation to previous trades. The important thing with Bollinger Bands is to ascertain your risk level and use them accordingly. If you are someone who has a high appetite for risk and is confident about a particular trade, then you can use either the Lower or the Upper Bollinger Band as your stop-loss point. Bollinger Bands are used as a technical analysis indicator. They are formed by using a 20-day moving average as a centerline and then tracing two bands, each one standard deviation wide, on either side of the moving average.
